Workshop on “Yarn Craft and Fabric Painting”
The workshop on "Yarn Craft and Fabric Painting" was conducted for B. Des students in the Department of Fashion Design, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences on 23 September 2024 and 24 September 2024. The resource person Ms Ranjitha. S provided hands-on practice in different Fabric painting techniques using fabric colours. Crochet is a process of creating textiles by using a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials. The resource person Ms Anuradha Ganesh Shenoy demonstrated Yarn Craft and design creation using different yarns, hooks, and scissors.
Ms Shenoy said “Yarn, one of the most commonly used materials for crocheting, has varying weights and needs to be taken into consideration when following patterns. The weight of the yarn can affect not only the look of the product but also the feeling”. She demonstrated the working process i.e. Stitches are made by pulling one or more loops through each loop of the chain. At any one time at the end of a stitch, there is only one loop left on the hook. Students enjoyed the 2 days workshop and learned fabric painting and crochet art. Yarn craft and Fabric painting is a very interesting hobby and passion that one can inculcate in interested people.
