Two days Collaborative Virtual mode International Faculty Development Program
Department of Fashion Design, FAD, Ramaiah University of Applied Science and MOU partner BGMEA- University of Fashion and Technology, Bangladesh together conducted Two days Collaborative Virtual mode International Faculty Development Program on “Transformative Futuristic Fashion Design Development through Yarns, Fabrics and Technologies” from 24 Jan and 25 Jan 2025. The Resource person Mr. Sudarsan Rajagopalan, Owner of M/s. Splendour Medicare Technologies, Coimbatore explained about current application of textiles in medical sector. The resource person Dr. Jinka Padmanabha Sampath Kumar , Director, NID, Assam described about handloom textiles and innovations and Dr Geetha Pandey, Teaching and Learning Co coordinator, UCL school of Management explained about Sustainable yarns, fabrics.
Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, Mr. Rayed Barkat, Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Studies, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, Bangladesh and Ms. Urmila Mukhter Jenny, Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Design & Technology, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, Bangladesh explained about Sustainable Fashion, eco-friendly materials, circular fashion, Smart textiles, 3D printing and Simulation in fashion. Faculty development program gave insight into intersection of traditional textiles, fashion, and innovative technologies. This will help in innovations in hand weaving, dyeing, and embroidery. These innovations promote sustainability through biodegradable materials, lab-grown fabrics, and recycled textiles, reducing the environmental impact of fashion production. Fashion significantly influences both personal identity and societal trends. As consumer demand for sustainable options rises, brands are rethinking their practices, signaling a positive transition towards a more sustainable and ethical fashion industry. Though complex, the movement toward sustainability is already underway, driven by technological innovation and increased consumer awareness.
