Semiconductor Education: Curriculum, Industry, and Innovation
Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, RUAS successfully conducted the search conference on “Semiconductor Education: Curriculum, Industry, and Innovation” held on 24th September 2025 at RTC Board Room, RUAS.
Panel Discussion with Industry Experts:
- Mr. Vikas Dabeer – Sr. Director, Value Engineering, Applied Materials, Bangalore
- Mr. Jayachandra Aradhya M S – CEO & Founder, Silicon Micro Systems, Bangalore
- Dr. S. Angappane – Scientist, Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, Bangalore
- Dr. P. Raghothama Rao – Retired Scientist, DRDO
Key Suggestions from Panelists:
- Develop a holistic semiconductor ecosystem at RUAS
- Introduce semiconductor material characterization modules
- Build industry partnerships and map active semiconductor companies
- Explore a Master’s program in Semiconductor Technology
- Offer longer student internships for industry exposure
- Encourage student progression from Idea → Prototype → Patent → Product
Outcome:
The Search Conference initiated impactful discussions that will shape the proposed B.Tech in Semiconductor Technology at RUAS. The collective wisdom emphasized expanding beyond curriculum design to foster ecosystem development, innovation, research, and stronger industry-academia collaborations.
