Adding another feather to its cap, the Rotaract Club of RUAS proudly announces that its flagship project, “CHANDANA VANA”, executed in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Nagasandra and the E-Swachha Community, has been honored with the prestigious “UGRAM AWARD – SOUTH EAST ASIA’s MOST INSPIRING ROTARACT INITIATIVE”. The award was presented during the Annual TURF AWARDS held at Pondicherry on 25-May-2025 by the South East Asia Rotaract Information Centre (SEARIC).
The CHANDANA VANA project was envisioned to convert trash into treasure by effectively managing e-waste collection and upcycling. Competing with Rotaract Clubs from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, India, Timor Leste, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan, Rotaract RUAS emerged victorious, bringing pride to the club and setting a benchmark for meaningful, impact-driven initiatives across the region.
Through this initiative, in alignment with the club's and university's commitment to sustainability, funds generated from the upcycling of e-waste were used entirely to construct a safe and engaging play area for the Government Higher Primary School in Baragenahalli. On January 26, 2025, during Republic Day celebrations, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. K. Raina recognized and felicitated the collaborating clubs. A Bhoomi Pooja was also held at the school on the same day. The play area was officially inaugurated and handed over to the school on March 8, 2025, in the presence of dignitaries from the school and the panchayat, Rotaract District 3192 officials, club members, and students.
