M.Sc. Nursing Students Organize a Clinical Skills Workshop

The first-year M.Sc. Nursing students of the Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (RINER) recently organized a simulation workshop on Nasogastric Tube Insertion and Intravenous Cannulation. The event, held on August 11, 2025, was conducted as part of the academic requirements for the Nursing Education curriculum.

The workshop welcomed 24 staff nurses from Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, who actively participated in a hands-on experience aimed at enhancing their clinical competence. Under expert guidance, the session effectively integrated theoretical knowledge with practical application.

Student facilitators Ms. Soumi Kundu and Mrs. Sheetal Joy led the theoretical sessions. Concurrently, Mrs. Poonambily V and Mrs. Hema H R provided guidance at the skill stations. The workshop followed a standard simulation framework, which included pre-briefing, hands-on practice with demonstrations, and debriefing sessions.

Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, participants strengthened their knowledge and confidence. Pre- and post-tests were administered to measure learning outcomes, confirming the success of the simulation-based approach in enhancing essential nursing skills.
