Handloom Day 2026 Fashion Show Performance

As part of the 12th National Handloom Day Celebrations 2026, students and staff from the Department of Fashion Design, Faculty of Art and Design (FAD), RUAS, participated in an event held on August 7, 2026, at the Kondajja Basappa Auditorium, Palace Road, Bengaluru. The event was organized by the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Kavery Handlooms, Government of Karnataka.

Students showcased a vibrant fashion show centered around the traditional and contemporary theme, "Draping Styles using Handloom Fabrics and Sarees." The show featured exquisite regional weaves, including Molakalmuru sarees, Pooja check sarees made from cotton and silk, Kaveri pure cotton handloom sarees, Guledagudda Khana pieces and sarees, Gajendragad sarees, and Pattada Anchu sarees.

The elegant draping styles styled for both male and female models across two rounds added a sophisticated touch to the event, highlighting that handloom is not just a fabric, but a symbol of identity, artistry, and empowerment. B.Des Fashion Design students, alongside student models and FAD faculty members, actively participated and were awarded certificates of appreciation.
