Guest Lecture by Dr. Nagendra Pratap Singh at National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM)

Dr. Nagendra Pratap Singh, Associate Dean-Research and Innovation at Office of Research and innovation have given an invited guest lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights in AYUSH: Protecting Traditional Knowledge and Innovation” on 28th December 2024 at the National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Bengaluru (an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India). The session, organized by the Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib, was an excellent platform to explore how IPR intersects with traditional medicinal knowledge

During the lecture, Dr. Singh discussed strategies to protect medicinal knowledge and innovations while navigating the complexities of legal frameworks. The talk emphasized the pivotal role of the Unani System of Medicine in global wellness and the vast opportunities for patenting and commercialization that can preserve and promote our rich traditions. More than 200 participants including researchers, Doctors, and Professors were present.
