Faculty Development Program on "Introduction to Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analysis"
The Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research successfully conducted a 5-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Introduction to Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analysis" from 9th to 13th December 2024. The program was led by Dr. Denny John, a renowned expert in public health and evidence synthesis, and was attended by ten faculty members.
The FDP aimed to enhance participants' research skills, focusing on key components such as framing research questions, developing PICO statements, defining inclusion/exclusion criteria, and designing effective search strategies. The program also featured hands-on training in data screening, critical appraisal, and the use of meta-analysis software tools.
The program concluded with practical insights into protocol development for systematic reviews, providing participants with a robust foundation in evidence-based research and strengthening their academic competencies.
As a significant outcome of the FDP, four groups were formed, each identifying research questions for systematic reviews. These groups are now actively engaged in the preparation of protocols, paving the way for future research endeavors.
