Dr. Tushar Shaw Secures ICMR Grant for Groundbreaking Research on Antibiotic Resistance

Dr. Tushar Shaw, Assistant Professor, Department of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Life and Allied Health Sciences (FLAHS), Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS), has been awarded a prestigious research grant for the project "Accelerated Diagnostics of Antibiotic Resistance in Gram-Negative Urinary Tract Infection Using Bioimaging Tools." This multi-institutional grant, sanctioned by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, marks a significant milestone for FLAHS.

The project is a collaborative effort involving RUAS, the University of Hyderabad, and the Tata Institute of Genomic Society, Bangalore, making it the first multi-institutional grant sanctioned in FLAHS.

This project aims to develop rapid diagnostic methods to detect antibiotic-resistant bacteria in UTI patients, addressing a critical challenge in healthcare. The outcomes could significantly improve the early diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant urinary tract infections.

Notably, this marks the third consecutive project sanctioned by ICMR with Dr. Tushar Shaw as the Principal Investigator (PI), reinforcing his contributions to cutting-edge biomedical research.
