Department of Mechanical Engineering & Robotics Celebrates International Women’s Day 2025
The Department of Mechanical Engineering & Robotics at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm. The event was honored by the esteemed presence of Dr. Ekta Singla, Professor and Head at IIT Ropar, who delivered an inspiring talk on women’s empowerment and leadership in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics.
The celebration, held on March 10, 2025, at 11:30 AM, commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Dayananda B. S., Head of the Department of MME. Dr. Singla engaged the audience with her insightful perspectives on the evolving role of women in science and technology, emphasizing the importance of breaking barriers and fostering inclusivity in academia and industry.
Faculty members, students, and staff actively participated in the interactive session that followed, where Dr. Singla shared her personal journey and experiences as a leading academician. She encouraged young minds to pursue their ambitions fearlessly and highlighted the need for mentorship and support systems in higher education.
Dr. Singla also shared valuable insights on internship opportunities at IITs, the challenges women face in professional careers, and the role of organizations like the Indian Robotics Society in advancing robotics research and collaboration. The session encouraged discussions on career growth, gender inclusivity, and overcoming barriers in STEM fields.
Following the session, Dr. Singla visited the Robotics Lab at RUAS, where she interacted with students and explored the innovative projects on display. She expressed her appreciation for the well-equipped lab setup and commended the students for their enthusiasm and technical expertise.
