My time with Ramaiah university of applied science on BSc. (hon's) Optometry was incredibly rewarding. The rigors of the program early on allowed me to fly high by the time I started my fourth year of internship. Even going through the program at the height of the pandemic, the program ensured that we were able to get the education with proficient mentors and patient encounters necessary to be stellar optometrists. I appreciated being eased into patient care starting in third year and being able to have time afforded for thinking through each encounter. In forth year of internship ,I felt grateful to be welcomed by well known vision science and technology based organization named remidio innovative solutions. Remidio organized my internship experience to be very diverse, and challenged me to see all aspects of the practice. Each sector tended to look a little different, but that was something I appreciated and made for a well rounded experience!
Remidio made me to rotate through a variety of specialty clinics and be exposed to the diverse patient population the Bay area has to offer. I was happy to have been able to build my 4th year schedule in a way that let me experience seeing patients in a variety of settings through Remidio innovative solutions
I was able to work in product validation, recurring project associated with Apollo medical hospital and sugar clinic of south region and clinical research project on various study at different centers like Diacon hospital, Aravind eye care system and Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research. Mean while I was also glad to be part of Diabetic retinopathy camp at Aravind hospital pondicherry and Corporate employee screening at viatris. Through different designated areas l was able to show more interest in clinical research and development in AI and machine learning which helped in absorb more knowledge in vision science and think in different perspective for enhancement and challenges in advance technology in optometry.
Writing this as I finish my fourth year, I feel comfortable and confident with the imminent transition towards being an independent eye care provider.”
