Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS celebrated “National Science Day” in association with Karnataka Science and Technology Academy-GoK on 28th February 2022 at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Ramaiah Technology Campus, Peenya, Bengaluru “National Science Day” was celebrated on 28th February 2022 by Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS. During the inauguration of the event Professor KK Raina, Vice Chancellor, RUAS made the opening remarks on virtual mode and highlighted the contributions of Sir C.V. Raman. Prof M. Sai Baba, Registrar – RUAS and Pro Vice Chancellor – Research, Prof. Govind R Kadambi addressed the students and asked student community to take up basic science seriously and contribute positively to the society. The Chief Guest of the event Professor S.M. Shivaprasad, Director – Karnataka State Higher Education Academy — GoK, enlightened the student community on the importance of Curiosity and Scientific Thinking. He kindled students to think like scientists. Another Guest Dr. Channesh TS, Director – Centre for Public Understanding of Sciences, Bengaluru gave a talk on the importance of science communication in society. He stressed up on the need of dialogue between the scientists and the public assisted by science communication. Both the talks were much appreciated by the students and staff. Dr. T. Niranjana Prabhu, HOD-Dept. of Chemistry, RUAS welcomed the guests and gathering, and Dr. Premakumar H. B. HOD-Dept. of Physics, RUAS proposed vote of thanks.
Prof. SM. Shivaprasad also inaugurated Chemistry Students Club “RASAYANIKA” activities and Dr. Channesh TS inaugurated Physics Students Club “Vigyan”. Students from RUAS and other institutions participated in QUIZ and poster competitions in the afternoon session. Students from FMPS had earlier conducted various other competitions on 25th February 2022 for RUAS students. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the students who won the competitions, during the valedictory function.
