Onam Celebration in Gnanagangothri Campus


Namma Onam was celebrated by students of Gnanagangothri campus on 24th September 2022. Students belonging to Faculty of Life & Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Management & Commerce, Faculty of Pharmacy, School of Social Sciences, Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research participated in it. The venue was beautifully decorated with balloons, color paper and Pookolam. Students were dressed in the typical Kerala attire — girls in off-white saree with golden border and boys in Dhoti and shirt.

Students started the event by performing Thiruvathira. Thiruvathira (in Tamil) signifies the golden red flame and Shiva performs the dance in the form this red-flamed light. Lord Shiva is supposed to be incarnated in the form of Lord Nataraja during the Arudra Darshan Day. It was followed by lamp lighting ceremony. Cultural programs followed with students belting out traditional Malayalam songs and dancing to popular songs from all languages. The biggest applause was reserved to welcome King Mahabali at the venue. The King was given a red-carpet welcome. The event ended with chendamelam in the evening.
