Workshop on ‘Creative Draping Techniques’

The Department of Fashion Design, Faculty of Art and Design (FAD), RUAS, organized a workshop titled 'Creative Draping Techniques' on 24th September 2026 at the Garment Manufacturing Lab, RTC Campus, for all B.Des Fashion Design students.

The workshop was conducted by resource person Ms. Veena, Head of the Department of Apparel Design and Fabrication Technology, Ramaiah Polytechnic. During the session, Ms. Veena demonstrated various fabric draping techniques on dress forms, providing step-by-step guidance on fabric preparation, pinning, molding, dart manipulation, smoothing, and contouring the body by folding out excess fullness. She also introduced advanced techniques, including controlled pleating for crisp structures, soft gathering for fullness, and asymmetric draping for dramatic, unconventional silhouettes.

Students gained valuable hands-on practice with various draping styles. Overall, the workshop enriched the students' technical and creative skills.
