Three-day Faculty Development Workshop on “Effective Student Assessment”
Department of Allied Health Sciences from the faculty of Life and Allied Health Sciences organized a 3-day faculty development workshop on “Effective Student Assessment” between 21st to 23rd August 2025 in collaboration with the Health Professionals Education Unit of Dental Sciences, RUAS
The Faculty Development Programme aimed to strengthen faculty competencies in designing, evaluating, and assessing students. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Rajesh Shenoy, Member of the National Commission for Allied & Health Professionals, along with senior leaders of RUAS. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of effective assessment in skill-based programmes, highlighting the need for continuous training to meet the expectations of tech-savvy students.
Day 1, facilitated by Dr. Pushpanjali K, focused on the principles of assessment, blueprinting, and the structuring of essay questions. Participants critically analyzed question papers using Bloom’s taxonomy and assessment criteria.
Day 2, led by Dr. Jyotsna Sriranga, covered psychomotor skill assessment, Entrustable Professional Attributes, formative and summative evaluation, and OSPE construction. A mock OSPE and a session on work-life balance enriched the learning experience.
Day 3, facilitated by Dr. Medha A Joshi, concentrated on viva-voce assessment, with role plays, standardization techniques, blueprinting, and structured approaches like Objective Structured Viva-Voce.
Sixteen faculty members participated, giving excellent feedback (4.70/5.00), and recommended more pedagogy-focused workshops in the future.
