Swachhameva Jayate - Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata" Awareness Rally

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), in collaboration with Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences - NSS RUAS, Rotaract RUAS, organized an awareness rally entitled "Swachhameva Jayate - Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata". The initiative aimed at promoting the principles of cleanliness, both in personal habits (Swabhav Swachhata) and values (Sanskaar Swachhata), aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission’s objective of encouraging a clean and healthy environment commemorating 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The rally took place on 01-Sep-2024, with participants starting from the Narayana e-Techno School, Mathikere, and proceeding through key areas of MSR Nagar. The rally was flagged off by BBMP officials and university authorities and saw enthusiastic participation of around 350 participants, including NSS volunteers, Rotaractors, Students of Ramaiah Vidyaniketan, CPRI staff and BBMP officials. The participants were equipped with banners, placards, and slogans emphasizing cleanliness, environmental consciousness, and civic responsibility.

The primary goal of the rally was to

• Raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness in both personal habits and public spaces
• Promote the significance of moral values in maintaining cleanliness and environmental responsibility
• Encourage community participation in keeping Bengaluru clean and green
• Highlight the role of youth in driving positive societal change through these kinds of initiatives

NSS and Rotaract members interacted with shopkeepers, pedestrians, and residents to spread the message of cleanliness and encourage waste segregation at the source. The participants, carrying banners and posters, chanted slogans like “Cleanliness is next to godliness”, “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata” and “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat” to energize the crowd and create a lasting impression.
