State Level Training Program on “Enhancing Knowledge & Skills of NSS Program officers and Volunteers
NSS Cell of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) conducted a State Level Training Program on “Enhancing Knowledge & Skills of NSS Program officers and Volunteers to educate community on prevention and control of common cancers” in collaboration with Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka and Yenepoya University (Deemed to be University), Mangalore on Saturday 23rd April, 2022.
Event was graced by Shri Y M Uppin, Youth Officer, NSS Regional Directorate, Bengaluru, Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice Chancellor, RUAS, Prof. Govind R Kadambi Pro-Vice Chancellor(Research), RUAS. Dr. Ashwini Shetty, Dr. Imran Pasha and Dr. Umme Amarah were resource persons from Yenepoya.
Over 450 NSS student volunteers, Program officers, Program coordinators and Faculty coordinators from Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Government College of Pharmacy, Dayanand Sagar University, Vivekananda College of Pharmacy & Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy were beneficiaries of the program.
The Resource Persons familiarized the volunteers with early signs & symptoms of cancers prevalent in India. They also explained causes for these cancers and good habits to be followed to minimize the risk.
Shri Uppin, urged the University to conduct a National Level program before the end of second year of NSS RUAS cell’s formation and assured all support in this matter. He was also impressed with the discipline and turn out of NSS volunteers for the program. It was a highly successful program conducted by RUAS NSS Units.
