NSS Activity

The NSS unit of Ramaiah institute of Nursing education and Research Bengaluru become a part of three days state level workshop organized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and UNICEF on “Social and Behaviour change among the communities to avail health and nutrition services in Karnataka”. Ms. Gayathri M (NSS officer) and Mr.Ranganatha C (supporting staff) have been trained. Small grants were provided (Rs.74500) to NSS units to undertake activities that contribute to conservation outcomes.

The activities are as follows

1.Ramaiah institute of nursing education and research Conducted 2 days orientation programme on Routine Immunization and Nutrition for 100 NSS volunteers on 6 & 7 th June 2022.

2.Ramaiah institute of nursing education and research conducted program to identify malnutrition among 2 to 5 years children in Boopasandra anganwadi by anthropometric assessment followed by NSS volunteers educated 20 mothers of infant and 30 primary school children regarding healthy diet through puppet show.

3.Ramaiah institute of nursing education and research has conducted sensitization program on Routine immunization in the context of COVID-19 among ASHA, in Bettahalsur primary health centre. The interactive session was leaded by Gayathri.M and Ranganatha C. Around 22 ASHA Workers were participated. The session was ended with clarifying the doubts and over coming of challenges in complete coverage of immunization.

4.Ramaiah institute of Nursing education & Research was become a part of Grama Sabha community meeting at Kuduregere in collaboration with Bettahalsur Primary Health Centre on 23rd June 2022. From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. With the aim to create awareness regarding Routine immunization. The meeting began with a short inaugural function.Around 25 village leaders, political leaders and 50 village members were participated in meeting. Dr. Yashashvini, Medical officer and Ms. Gayathri M, NSS Officer addressed the gathering and explained the importance of Vaccination among Pregnant women and Children. Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar Movies Rajakumara Remake song on Routine immunization was used to motivate the public on vaccination. The meeting was completed successfully with positive feedback from the village leaders.

5.Ramaiah institute of Nursing education & Research was conducted edutainment session on eat a Rainbow at Government higher primary school, Tarunase on 29th June 2022. With the main object of the session is to combat malnutrition and to disseminate information and education to school children. The session began with a short inaugural function. Mr. Ranganatha C, supporting staff, NSS unit addressed the gathering and explained the importance of Nutrition. Around 200 school children, teachers and parents were actively participated and got benefited from this session. The School children were encouraged to participate actively in this activity session. The session was completed successfully with positive feedback from the school teachers, CRP and Parents.

6.Role play on personal hygiene was conducted on 15th September 2022 at Government primary school, Hosahalli. 65, students aged between 6-11 years were benefitted by this programme.

7.Mass anaemia screening was organized on 22.09.2022 at Hunasamaranahalli, Government school, Bangalore rural. A total of 100 adolescent girls were screened and 35 girls were found to be anaemic.

8.Menstrual hygiene awareness programme was conducted on 30.09.2022 at Hunasamaranahalli Government School. A total of 60 adolescent girls benefitted out this activity.

9.Arogya Sangeeta Mela was conducted on 28.03.2022 at Government higher primary school, Nagashattihalli around 500 school children participated Mr.Ambareesh, Singer, Naada Surabhi Samskruthika Kala Balaga sang the remakes of kannada folk songs that delivered a message an importance of balanced diet and immunization.
