International Yoga Day 2026 Celebration at RUAS
The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) on 21 June 2026 under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and staff, promoting the importance of yoga in leading a healthy and balanced life.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Sri Manoj Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), along with the distinguished guests and dignitaries present on the occasion.
Mr. Ashok Rao, Registrar, RUAS, delivered the welcome address and extended a warm welcome to all the guests and participants. The distinguished Guest of Honour was Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Founder and Chairman, Akshar Yoga Kendraa, and the other Guest of Honour was Dr. Prathap Lingaiah, State NSS Officer, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
During their addresses, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle through regular yoga practice. They highlighted how yoga contributes to physical fitness, mental well-being, stress management, and healthy ageing, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life.
A special yoga session was conducted by Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, who guided the participants through various stretching exercises and Surya Namaskar. He explained the numerous benefits of Surya Namaskar, including improved flexibility, enhanced strength, better blood circulation, increased concentration, and overall wellness. The interactive session inspired participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for long-term health benefits.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Priya Arjun, Student Affairs, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guests of Honour, university administration, organizers, volunteers, and participants for contributing to the success of the event.
