Guest Lecture on the Importance of Technology in Hotel Operations

A guest lecture was organized for V Sem BHM (Batch 2022-26) in Clarks Exotica Convention Resort and Spa on 1st October 2024 by the Department of Front Office, FHMCT. Mr. Rakesh, Associate Director of rooms of the property, took the session. A total of 34 students attended the guest lecture. Mr. Rakesh started the session by discussing the different stages of the guest cycle and how the hotel interacts with the customers during each stage. He informed students about the various market segments where the resort gets the business with maximum corporate revenue. Mr. Rakesh also said that the Front Office in the resort generates around 45% of revenue from the sale of rooms. In contrast, banquets generate about 55-60% of revenue as major business comes from the MICE segment. Spa and other ancillary departments generate about 2% of revenue. Mr. Rakesh informed me about the resort's use of technology in hotel operations. The technology is used to store the customer database, which helps when the guests revisit the property, as their requirements and dislikes are already available at the hotel. It was a very informative and interactive session for the students, wherein Mr. Rakesh clarified the doubts posed to him.
