A vibrant induction programme marks the beginning of a new academic, professional and research journey
M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) warmly welcomed its new cohort of B.Tech students and Ph.D. scholars through Deeksharambh 2026 on 10th & 11th August 2026, an induction programme designed to familiarise students with the University’s academic environment, research ecosystem, industry opportunities, student support systems and institutional values.
The programme brought together the University leadership, academic heads, faculty members, distinguished industry professionals, students and parents. The event was graced by Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice Chancellor, RUAS; Mr. S. Ashok Rao, Registrar; Prof. R. V. Ranganath, Provost – Engineering & Allied Sciences and Dean – Academics; Dr. Sanjay Ramakrishna Bijwe, Dean – Research and Innovation; Dr. Sarat Kumar Maharana, Dean, Ramaiah Technology Campus; Dr. B. S. Dayananda, Associate Dean, Ramaiah Technology Campus; and Dr. Anitha Ramalingam, Controller of Examinations.
The academic leadership included Dr. C. Narendra Babu, Head – Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Mahesh K. Varpe, Head – Aerospace Engineering; Dr. Harshad Rameshwar Parate, Head – Civil Engineering; Dr. T. Christy Bobby, Head – Electronics and Communication Engineering; Dr. Sulake Nagaraja Rao, Head – Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and Dr. Suresh R., Head – Mechanical Engineering. The Programme Heads were Dr. Padma Priya Dharshini – Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Prabadevi B. – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Dr. Jyothi A. P. – Mathematics and Computing; Dr. Nageswara Guptha M. – Artificial Intelligence and Data Science; Dr. Mallaradhya H. M. – Robotics Engineering; and Dr. Sachit T. S. – Automotive Engineering. Dr. B. S. Praveen Kumar, Deputy Director – Placements, also participated in the programme.
The programme commenced with Opening Remarks, followed by Vande Mataram and the Ramaiah Anthem, and the Ceremonial Watering of the Plant, symbolising growth, knowledge and new beginnings. The Welcome Address and Overview of Academic Activities, Inaugural Address, and Overview of Academics at RUAS provided students and parents with an insight into the University’s academic ecosystem and opportunities.
The programme featured inspiring interactions with eminent industry leaders. Ms. Aswathy Venugopal, Head – Recruitment, Cognizant, and Ms. Sripriya Soundararajan, Vice President, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, addressed the students, sharing valuable perspectives on innovation, continuous learning, professional skills, industry readiness and career opportunities. Dr. Nagahanumaiah, Director, Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Bengaluru, also addressed the students and Ph.D. scholars, highlighting the importance of research, advanced manufacturing, innovation, technology development, industry collaboration, patents and intellectual property. The distinguished guests were felicitated by the University leadership.
A special Address by the Dean – Research and Innovation, Dr. Sanjay Ramakrishna Bijwe, highlighted the University’s focus on research, innovation and interdisciplinary development, particularly inspiring the new Ph.D. scholars beginning their research journey at RUAS.
A Student and Parent Interaction provided an opportunity to share expectations and aspirations, while the Release of the Deeksharambh Induction Handbook familiarised students with campus life, academic regulations, student support services and opportunities at RUAS. The Namma RTC Newsletter was also released, showcasing the achievements, milestones and academic and research activities of Ramaiah Technology Campus.
The programme further included an Overview of Examination and Assessment at RUAS, providing students with essential information about academic evaluation processes, followed by a vibrant Student Cultural Programme that added colour and enthusiasm to the induction.
The proceedings were smoothly hosted by Dr. Sahana Prabhu Shankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Ms. Naganandini G., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Shreyanka Subbarayappa, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering; and Ms. Shaista Tarannum, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Their engaging compering and coordination contributed to the seamless conduct of the programme.
The programme concluded with the Presidential Address by Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice Chancellor, RUAS, followed by the Vote of Thanks by Dr. B. S. Dayananda, Associate Dean, Ramaiah Technology Campus.
Deeksharambh 2026 marked a memorable and meaningful beginning for the new B.Tech students and Ph.D. scholars, bringing together academic orientation, research and innovation, industry interaction, student engagement and cultural activities. The programme successfully welcomed the new cohort into the Ramaiah family, inspiring them to pursue knowledge, innovation, professional excellence and meaningful contributions to society.
