Distinguished Lecture organized by the Dept. of Economics
Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences conducted a Distinguished Lecture on ‘Pyramid of Poverty Concepts: Implications for poverty measurement and reduction’ on 28th September 2026. Prof. D. Rajasekhar, Former Director, Institute for Social & Economic Change delivered the distinguished lecture. Prof Rajasekhar enlightened students on different approaches to poverty measurement and highlighted the limitations of monetary approach to poverty measurement, while also throwing light on the concepts of Pyramids of Poverty. Students from different departments in the School of Social Sciences attended the lecture, which culminated in an insightful Q&A session with the speaker.
