Celebrating Student-Led Environmental Advocacy this Earth Day: RUAS Law Students Mark Earth Day with Powerful Environmental Law Project
In a commendable initiative aligned with Earth Day celebrations, students of the 6th semester B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) programs at the School of Law, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) have undertaken a remarkable project as part of their Environmental Law course.
As part of their semester assignment, the students formed eight groups and visited various locations across Bengaluru, where they identified significant environmental issues affecting local communities. These field visits allowed them to engage directly with ground realities and observe the human impact of environmental degradation.
The project led to the production of a series of insightful and thought-provoking short films/documentaries, reflecting the students' research, creativity, and concern for the environment. Each video highlighted a distinct issue, supported by real-life visuals and narratives.
Building on their findings, the students drafted comprehensive reports analyzing the issues through the lens of relevant environmental laws and legal provisions. To conclude their work, each group prepared a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), proposing legal interventions based on the challenges observed and documented.
This initiative not only showcased the students' academic competence and awareness of environmental law but also their ability to apply classroom learning to real-world problems. The faculty commended the students for their dedication, and the initiative stands as a proud moment for the School of Law, RUAS, this Earth Day.
