Post Basic B.Sc. degree in Nursing is a broad based education aimed to build upon the skills and competencies acquired at the diploma in nursing level. It is specifically directed to the upgrading of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health Policy.

The Post Basic BSc Nursing course is a specialised and advanced education pathway designed for registered nurses (RNs) who have already completed a diploma or certificate programme in nursing. Program Objectives

On completion of Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree course the graduates will be able to

  • Assess health status, identify nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients / clients that contribute to health of individuals, families and communities.
  • demonstrate competency in techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles from selected areas of nursing, physical, biological and behavioral sciences.
  • Participate as members of health team in the promotive, preventive, curative and restorative health care delivery system of the country.
  • Demonstrate skills in communication and interpersonal relationship.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision-making abilities in various situations.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in community health settings.
  • Demonstrate managerial skills in community health settings.
  • Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.
  • Participate in research activities and utilize research findings in improving nursing practice.
  • Recognize the need for continued learning for the personal and professional development.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold a diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM).
  • Be a registered nurse.
  • Have passed Higher secondary or senior secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose.
  • Have working knowledge of English.
  • Be medically fit.
  • Have good personal and professional record.
  • Age : No candidate who is above 45 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission shall be eligible

Nursing Foundation – 10 Marks

Medical Surgical Nursing/ Adult Health Nursing – 15 Marks

Paediatric Nursing – 10 Marks

Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing – 10 Marks

Community Health Nursing – 10 Marks

Mental Health Nursing – 10 Marks

Psychology & Sociology – 05 Marks

Anatomy & Physiology – 05 Marks

Nutrition & Biochemistry – 05 Marks

Total – 80 Marks

  • Minimum qualifying marks for entrance test shall be 50% marks
  • Students qualified in the entrance test will be notified for admission to the programme

  • Eligible candidates are allotted to the college through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Govt. of Karnataka, counselling
  • After counselling, candidates approach the college with KEA Provisional allotment letter
