The BCom Hons Accounting and Finance is a specialised undergraduate programme designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the financial landscape and accounting principles. This intensive course typically spans three to four years and combines core business subjects with a specific focus on accounting and finance.
Under the BCom Hons Accounting and Finance syllabus, students delve into areas such as financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, and corporate finance. Students gain practical insights through internships, case studies, and real-world applications, preparing them for careers in finance, accounting, or related fields. Thus, the BCom Accounting and Finance course equips graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary for roles in financial analysis, audit, investment banking, or pursuing further professional qualifications in accounting and finance.
Under the Proctoral System, every student is assigned a faculty member as a Proctor or a mentor. These mentors offer guidance, support, and encouragement to students, helping them as they progress along their academic journey. From the choice of electives to their academic performance, from attendance to meeting their credit requirements, students can approach these mentors with any and every query. Proctors also interact with parents/guardians and keep them updated on the progress of students. To ensure that they reap the benefits of the Proctoral System, students are advised to be in regular contact with their Proctors.
At the Innovation Centre, students team up with faculty members to bring their innovative ideas to life. Ideas are assessed based on their relevance to — and impact on — society. These are then translated into working projects that are entered in national and international competitions, and for registration as patents.
Students can opt for an internship in an industry, a business, or a research organization during this module. Alternatively, students can undertake a mini project that requires a self-directed study to be pursued with an affiliated faculty member. It is also necessary for the student to submit a report and make a presentation to the members of the panel constituted by the HoD for assessment.
Students can choose from a multitude of open electives across faculties for credits. These are specially designed as a basic introduction which help in the holistic development of an individual.
