Dr. Vikas Shelar

Assistant Professor and Deputy Controller of Examination — Ramaiah Technology Campus

Dr Vikas Shelar has been an Assistant Professor (Regular) at the Department of Physics and the Academic Registrar for the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in RUAS since November 2019. He joined the Department of Physics as an Assistant Professor in 2015 and became its Head in 2018. His PhD degree is from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) (2013).

Overall, he has gathered 14 years of professional experience which includes 7 years in Teaching and 7 years in Research. He has taken up modules like Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Instrumentation and Experimental Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, Spectroscopy and MATLAB. He has been a thesis advisor to undergraduates and postgraduate (MS) aspirants. He played a principal role in the development of Doppler Weather Radar algorithms for software at ISRO. He successfully analysed data from DWR and TRMM NASA. Similarly, his contribution was instrumental in the setting up of the experimental facility for supersonic jet flow visualisation using PLIF in the Aerospace Engineering Department of IISc.
