Dr. Sakshi Shukla

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sakshi Shukla, with a diverse academic background, holding a Bachelor’s in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry and followed by a Master’s in Anthropology. She completed her Ph.D. at the School of Liberal Arts, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. Her doctoral research delves into the reconstruction of individuals’ inequalities incorporating a postcolonial gender lens into crucial dialogues between intersectionality and mobility studies. Focusing primarily on the Indian IT industry, Sakshi’s work explores multiple connections, highlighting her expertise in Gender Studies, Mobility, Postcolonialism, Intersectionality, and Qualitative Research.

Beginning her academic journey as a Research Fellow and Teaching Assistant at IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Shukla transitioned to become a Research Assistant at GESIS-Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, Germany. Currently, she serves as an Associate Editor for HSS Editorial Community at Springer Nature and a Reviewer for Humanities and Social Sciences Journal of Springer Nature.

Dr. Sakshi has demonstrated her academic prowess by qualifying for the UGC-National Eligibility Test and securing a Junior Research Fellowship. Her commitment to scholarly excellence is underscored by the International Honorable Mention Award for her Ph.D. Research Proposal, Postcolonial Intersections in Digital India: Navigating Gendered Spaces in Information Technology,” conferred by MAXQDA (Research for Change), Germany. She has further distinguished herself through the receipt of the MAXQDA Project Sponsorship in Germany and the Global Research Scholarship at Chonnam National University, Gwangju, South Korea.

Dr. Sakshi’s research contributions extend to numerous publications in national and international journals and books, covering a wide array of topics such as Gender, Education, Reproductive Health, Intersectionality, and Mobility. Additionally, she has enriched her academic journey by attending UGC-funded, and International faculty development programs in the Digital Humanities space.

Beyond academia, Dr. Shukla has taken on institutional responsibilities, serving as the Membership Director for the ROTARACT Club and co-heading the Graduate Research Colloquium at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. Her commitment to community service is evident through volunteer work. As a trained Anthropologist and Ethnographer, she actively engaged in fieldwork experiences throughout her academic journey, enhancing her practical understanding of her field.
