Dr. Rahul Cadambi Murali

Associate Professor

Dr Rahul Cadambi Murali joined as Associate Professor at RUAS. He now heads the Composites Materials Technology and Research Centre which he was instrumental in setting up with the collaboration of Kazan National Technical and Research University, Russia. He is the Centre Coordinator for Centre of Excellence in Computational Mechanics for the Ramaiah Group. Actively involved in various funded and consultancy projects for a number of Defence organisations, IAF and other R&D laboratories, he spearheaded the effort to enlist RUAS as a nodal centre for BRDs (Indian Air Force). His 16-year-long career is marked by industrial, research and academic accomplishments. In the past, he has worked as an Assistant Manager in the R&D wing of Federal Mogul Goetze India. His research interests include polymer composites, nanomaterials, elastomeric and polymer nanocomposites and damage tolerant design of composite materials. He has published research in 35 peer-reviewed international journals and conferences and has one patent pending. He is an active member of various reputed professional technical academies in the UK and India.
Having received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, he went on to do his Master of Technology Degree in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from VTU. He was ranked second and consequently received full funding for his PhD from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He continued as a postdoctoral fellow for a year at the University of Sheffield and AMRC Boeing.
