Dr. Jyotsna Kumar

Assistant Professor

Dr Jyotsna Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS. She is a highly accomplished researcher, teacher and counsellor. Always ready for collaborative working at the inter- and intra- departmental levels, she moved steadily from designing student centric courses to classroom teaching. She has notably contributed towards development, preparation and upgradation of curriculum, study material, lecture notes, laboratory experiments for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs of diverse courses.
Her research activities cover an extensive range of topics. These include designing and synthesis of small organic molecules, material science, green chemistry, fabrication of films, material for bio-medical and waste management, environmental chemistry, herbal/natural products, heavy metals green remediation and food chemistry. Her research work has also been recognised and applauded widely. Having published papers in peer reviewed Scopus indexed journals, she is, in turn, an honorary reviewer and associate editor for many such publications. She has been felicitated by the reputed publishing house, Elsevier on being an Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering. Her work has also been presented at at least 26 conferences in India and overseas. In 2015, she received the Best Paper award at the National Women’s Science Congress. In 2017, she was invited as a plenary speaker and given the award for Best Delivered Talk at an international conference in Bangkok. She studied for her MSC (Organic Chemistry) and PhD (Inorganic Chemistry) degrees from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. In addition, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from North Bengal University, West Bengal and a Master’s degree in Psychology from IGNOU.
