- Laser based diagnostic tools find many applications in engineering and technology. Such as Laser induced Fluorescence (LIF). Cavitation is a process where in the static pressure of the liquid falls below vapour pressure, giving rise to vapour filled cavities in a low pressure region. These bubble implode under influence of high pressure resulting in shokwaves which damage the machinery. Investigation of buble collapse using laser based techniques.
- Photonics and Nonlinear optics is an important branch of physics which took birth with the advent of highly intense laser systems. It is concerned with the study of the phenomena that result from highly intense light induced modifications in the optical properties of the materials. The field of nonlinear optics (NLO) explores the coherent coupling of two or more electromagnetic fields in a nonlinear medium. Organic molecules are of considerable interest owing to their extensive design possibilities and the better performance than that of their inorganic counterparts. They are the key materials for numerous photonic applications like signal processing, switching, frequency generation, optical data storage, optical communication and image processing.
