As an Assistant Professor under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS, Dr Sheetal Batakurki has been teaching Chemistry for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes since July 2014. Besides teaching, her daily activities include designing curriculum and laboratory experiments for various courses. She has been instrumental in organizing various departmental activities including national and international conferences. She has designed M. Sc, Organic chemistry, B.Sc Hons in Chemistry, B. Tech Engineering Chemistry curriculum documents. She has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students for their B.Sc and M.Sc dissertation thesis. She organizes alumni meet every year and have proactively involved in student recruitment process. Her research interests include extraction, isolation, and characterization of secondary metabolites from endangered plant species. She is also working on synthesis of novel heterocyclic moieties for antioxidant and anti-cancer, and for energy storage applications. She is also interested in food and nutrition research. She is also a member of the Board of Studies in Chemistry at RUAS; Board of Examiners at RUAS, RVCE, Bangalore and Jain University, Bangalore. She obtained her MSc (Organic Chemistry) and PhD (Organic Chemistry) from Karnataka University, Dharwad. She has a postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and Law from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She has worked as a Patent consultant for various law firms providing suitable suggestions for her clients.
