Dr. Rahul Cadambi is a Professor at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) and heads the Composites Materials and Technologies Research Centre (CMTRC), which he established in 2017 in collaboration with Kazan National Technical and Research University (KNRTU-KAI), Russia. He has been a driving force in strengthening research–industry–academia partnerships, including the incubation of Valdel Advanced Technologies Pvt. Ltd. at the RUAS Peenya campus. He also played a key role in RUAS being recognized as a nodal centre for Base Repair Depots (BRDs) of the Indian Air Force. He has successfully executed sponsored and consultancy projects contributing towards technology transfer, indigenisation and process development initiatives exceeding ₹670 lakhs for DRDO laboratories (NPOL, DMSRDE, NSTL, NMRL), the Indian Armed Forces and other national R&D institutions.
With over 18 years of experience across academia, research, and industry, Dr. Cadambi’s expertise spans polymer composites, nanomaterials synthesis, elastomeric and polymer nanocomposites, damage-tolerant composite design, and computational modelling of fracture, fatigue, and defects. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed forums, holds two patents, and is an active member of several national and international professional bodies. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects and is currently guiding two PhD scholars.
Before joining RUAS, Dr. Cadambi was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, where he also completed his fully funded Ph.D. His earlier professional experience includes serving as Assistant Manager in R&D at Federal Mogul Goetze India. He earned his Master’s degree in Manufacturing Science and Engineering and his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering.
