Dr. Premakumar H B is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Physics which comes under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS. With 23 plus years of combined experience in Academics and Teaching, he began his association with the university in 2017. His teaching experience has been quite eventful and has ranged from Pre- university to postgraduate students. He values the importance of knowledge and has always advocated for the importance of research. He has been actively participating in research and has published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed scopes indexed journals and has presented around 70 papers in national and international conferences. He is a reviewer for several journals from Elsevier, ACS, etc., and has also chaired and delivered invited talks at national and international conferences. His interest in research has encouraged him to publish three books. He was also able to edit five books and has written four book chapters. His contribution to the field of physics has been well appreciated as he was chosen as a resource person for CET related work. He has also a resource person for several workshops conducted for government and private pre-university teachers. In the year 2013, he received the “Young Scientist award from VGST, Government of Karnataka. His research interests are material science, nano composites, nanostructured phosphors, radiation dosimetry, ion induced modification in crystals and minerals, sensors, forensic applications and anticounterfeit applications of nanostructured composites. He currently heads the department of physics at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences and is an expert on nano phosphors, radiation dosimetry, forensic applications of nanostructured composites and he is the go-to person to anybody curious about these
