Dr. Sheetal Batakurki

Assistant Professor and Head

As an Assistant Professor under the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, RUAS, Dr Sheetal Batakurki has been teaching Chemistry for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes since July 2014. Besides teaching, her daily activities include designing curriculum and laboratory experiments for various courses. She has been instrumental in organising various departmental activities including national and international conferences. Her research interests include extraction, isolation and characterisation of secondary metabolites from endangered plant species. She is also working on the synthesis of heterocyclic molecules for antioxidant and anti-cancer applications. Formerly a member of the Board of Studies in Chemistry at RUAS, she is a member of the Board of Examiners at RUAS and Jain University, Bangalore.
She obtained her MSc (Organic Chemistry) and PhD (Organic Chemistry) from Karnataka University, Dharwad. She has a postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and Law from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She has experience working as a consultant for various law firms.
