Sahadev

Dr. Sahadev A. Shankarappa

Professor

Dr. Sahadev is a neuroscientist by training, specializing in neurobiology, neurophysiology, and drug delivery research. With postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Professors Robert Langer at MIT and Daniel Kohane at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, his research focuses on understanding the impact of neural inputs on complex cellular systems with applications in tissue engineering and chronic lifestyle disorders. His lab explores how neural inputs, both secreted and electrical, modulate non-neuronal cell functions. Results from these studies aim to be translated into human studies for tissue engineering and disease-specific applications. Sahadev holds a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Loyola University Chicago, an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M.B.B.S. from Bangalore University. A recipient of the Ramalingaswami reentry fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Sahadev is not only passionate about neuroscience, but also practices meditation and enjoys long-distance running.
