Mr. Vidyanand S. Desai has been an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Art and Design, RUAS since 2015. He took on the additional role of Associate Head of the Innovation Centre (RUASIC) in 2019. His industrial experience includes working as a Tool Designer and Developer, Eigen Engineering, Bangalore for over a year as part of his Diploma project requirement. He then joined Wipro Technologies, Bangalore as a Product Design Engineer for a 3 year tenure before entering the world of academia. He has a long list of educational qualifications to his name including a Diploma in Tool and Die Making (3+1) (2009) and Post Diploma in Tool Design from GT&TC, Hubballi (2010), a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University, Mysore and a Master’s degree in Product Design from Coventry University — MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (2015). His vast interest in research includes the areas of new product design & development, design innovation, elements of design, conceptual design and aesthetics, model making, graphic design, UI UX, artworks, computer aided industrial design, ergonomics, sustainable design and design for manufacture and assembly.

- Under my mentorship, a student team has won the “First Runner Up with Cash award” in SERB-INAE Conclave at IIT Kanpur on 6th November 2022.
- Under my mentorship, a student team has won the "First Runner-up" with INR.60,000 Cash Award at "AAKRUTI 2022 - Shaping Imagination Design PAN India national level contest conducted by Dassault Systemes, Pune on 17th November 2022.
- Under my mentorship, a student has won the “Gold Medal and Article publication at D’Source Website” in “D’Source DIC-BHU SDGs Design Challenge. It is an “International level Design Competition” (Received in Dec 2022).
