Dr. S. G. Srivani is presently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru. She is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru, where she also served as Associate Dean for Postgraduate Studies.

Dr. Srivani has approximately 42 years of experience in teaching and research, including nearly 37 years at RVCE and 3 years at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT). She obtained her Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, for her research on adaptive distance-relaying schemes. She has supervised eight doctoral scholars under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

A Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (FIE) and Senior Member of IEEE, Dr. Srivani has published more than 220 research papers in international journals and reputed international conference proceedings and 5 Book Chapters. She has travelled internationally, including to Singapore, London, the USA, Geneva, and Paris, for presenting research papers, chairing technical sessions, and delivering invited talks.

Her intellectual-property portfolio includes four granted patents, including one UK patent, as well as a published patent. She has served as a reviewer for numerous IEEE international conferences and journals, and has reviewed manuscripts for international journals published by Springer Nature, IEEE, and Elsevier. She has also served on various editorial and technical review panels.

Dr. Srivani has successfully led five funded research projects from INAE, NIAS and ISRO as Principal Investigator. Her contributions to teaching, research, and professional service have been recognized through more than 22 professional awards and honours, including the Best Teacher Award 2024 from the RVCE-ISTE Chapter.

Her research interests encompass power-system protection, smart grids, renewable-energy integration, power-electronic converters, electric and hybrid vehicles, intelligent control, and energy management. During her tenure at RVCE, she established the Centre of Competence (CoC) on Smart Vidhyuth and Sustainable Solutions in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She also served as the Faculty Coordinator for the IEEE Power & Energy Society Student Branch (IEEE PES SB) at RVCE and received best chapter award 2025.

Dr. Srivani has been recognized as a technical expert and member of interview and evaluation panels for organizations and initiatives including ISRO and the INAE Mayank Awards. She has also served as a VTU nominee on Boards of Studies (BoS) of reputed institutions. Her extensive contributions to engineering education, research, professional service, and innovation have established her as an experienced academic and researcher in the field of electrical engineering.
