Dr Ajay Krishnamurthy joined as Associate Dean (International Affairs) and Professor at the Faculty of Life and Allied Health Sciences, RUAS, in August 2025. He is leading the International Office and strengthening RUAS’s global engagement through meaningful academic and research partnerships, fostering international collaborations, enhancing mobility opportunities, and supporting curriculum internationalisation across disciplines.
Dr Ajay Krishnamurthy is an accomplished biomedical scientist, with a PhD in Medical Sciences from Central Queensland University, Rockhampton, Australia (2008), Postdoctoral Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia (2008-2012) specialising in microbiology, immunology and vaccine therapeutics research related to respiratory tract infections. Upon leading >20 individual and collaborative research projects, >14 joint-NHMRC funded projects, 4 clinical trials and industry-linked projects, he started his Higher Education leadership journey at Central Queensland University and later to Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, joining as an Academic Research Manager in 2012, progressing to becoming an Academic Program Director (2018-2025). He also served on Otitis Media Australia Research advisory board to designate research themes and develop international conference processes, bringing leaders together to address complex health issues and advance the field. He has published 3 book chapters and 6 journal articles related to microbial research in respiratory infections and immunity.
As a Higher Education leader, he successfully executed operational and strategic initiatives related to delivery of academic programs, implemented policies related to program compliance and quality assurance, transformed curriculum to increase student learning and engagement, including development of transnational academic policies, that led to improved credit arrangements, pathways diversification, international joint and dual degree program through educational partnerships.
