Government Scholarships


To ensure access to quality education for all sections of society, the Government of India as well as the State Government of Karnataka offer several scholarship programs. Students can opt for the same if they meet the requirements set by the government. 

The Directorate of Student Affairs offers information, assistance, and guidance to students who are applying for these scholarship programs.

Scholarships and Concessions Offered

Government of India Scholarship

Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education), Government of India awards scholarships to candidates who have secured a minimum of 80% in Class 12 or equivalent examination, and whose parents’ income is less than or equal to Rs. 4.5 Lakhs. Post-Metric Scholarship to SC/ST Students whose parents’ income is below or equal to Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum

Students need to observe the following formalities before submitting an application:

  1. Registered with the Social Welfare Department personally and obtain login ID 
  2. Log in and upload the documents to sw​.kar​.nic​.in
  3. Print the acknowledgement and submit it along with documents to the college 
  4. Fill and submit the Scholarship Form obtained from the Social Welfare Department.

Post-Metric Scholarship for SC/ST Students whose parents’ income is more than Rs. 2. 5 lakhs per annum

Students belonging to this category need to submit a different application form. The form can be downloaded from sw​.kar​.nic​.in.

Please note that SC/ST Students who do not apply for the scholarship and whose application gets rejected for any reason have to compulsorily pay the CET fees to the college. 

Defence Scholarship

The Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka awards Defence Scholarships to children of defence personnel. 

Only UG students are eligible for this scholarship. 

Students applying for this scholarship are required to obtain a recommendation from the concerned Defence Officer, along with proof of serving in the defence forces. These, as well as the scholarship application and the required documents, will be forwarded to the Director of Technical Education.

Ex-Defence Scholarship

Children of ex-defence personnel can avail of this scholarship by the Department of Sainik Welfare, which is situated at No. 58, Field Marshal General Cariappa Bhavan, Bangalore 560 025. 

This scholarship application will be submitted along with a recommendation by the principal. 

Fee Concession/​Food and Accommodation Concession to students belonging to Cat‑I

The Department of Backward Classes and Minorities awards this scholarship to students whose parents’ income is less than or equal to Rs. 2.5 lakh. 

Students are required to:

  1. Log on to karepass​.cgg​.gov​.in to apply online for the scholarship.
  2. Two copies of the acknowledgement, along with any required documents, should be submitted to the college. 
  3. Students can also apply for food and accommodation concessions provided they are not staying in Backward and Minorities Hostel. That is, students staying in other Hostel are eligible for this concession.

The criteria for this concession is the distance from the place where the caste certificate is issued. 

Fee Concession / Food and Accommodation Concession to students belonging to IIa, IIb, IIIa and IIIb

Concessions in fee as well as food and accommodation are sanctioned by the Department of Backward Classes and Minorities, Government of Karnataka. 

Students whose parents’ income is less than Rs. 1 lakh per annum are eligible for this scholarship. 

Students are required to:

  1. Log on to karepass​.cgg​.gov​.in to apply online for the scholarship.
  2. Two copies of the acknowledgement, along with any required documents, should be submitted to the college. 
  3. Students can also apply for food and accommodation concessions provided they are not staying in Backward and Minorities Hostel. That is, students staying in other Hostel are eligible for this concession.

The criteria for this concession is the distance from the place where the caste certificate is issued. 

Financial aid to PG students who have qualified in GATE

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) grants financial aid to PG students who have qualified in GATE. 

Such students, who are selected for the M. Tech program, are required to submit 6 copies of their GATE score card at the time of admission. They must also submit their progress report from the first two semesters, as soon as the results are announced. 

The College authorities will ensure to apply for financial aid. Once it is received, the same will be disbursed to the eligible candidates. 

Scholarships to students belonging to Minority Religions

The Department of Minorities awards scholarships to candidates belonging to Minority Religions. 

These scholarships are advertised in newspapers every year during the month of July/​August.

Interested candidates can refer to these newspaper advertisements for more details.

Educational Loan Scholarships

The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation and D. Devaraj Urs Development Association awards educational loan scholarships at simple interest. 

Eligible candidates can contact either of the two organisations – 

  1. Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation,12th Floor, Main Tower, Dr Ambedkar Veedhi, Bangalore 560 001.

Other Scholarships

Please Note: Students with an annual family income between Rs. 2.5 lakhs and 10 lakhs will be required to pay the CET fees to the university as the sanctioned amount for the scholarship will be credited directly to the student account. 

When applying for a scholarship, please ensure to select the name of the institute as M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences.

Eligibility: Parents working in the Army, the Air Force and the Navy.

Please Note: If students fail to apply for a scholarship, or if they are not eligible to apply for one, they are required to pay the CET fees to the University.

After applying online for a scholarship, the student must take a print out of the application form and submit the same to the Directorate of Student Affairs in the Gnanagangothri Campus or in the Peenya Campus. Along with the form, the student is required to submit a copy of all the documents uploaded. 

The documents required are:

  • KEA/COMEDK/PGCET admission allotment letter issued by the relevant authority
  • Class 10 (SSLC), 12 (PUC) /​Diploma /​Degree certificates 
  • Income certificate of Parent/​Guardian issued by Tahsildar/​District Magistrate 
  • Salary certificate in case of Parent/​Guardian who is in service. To be issued by their drawing officer. Death certificate to be submitted if parents are not alive. 
  • If parents are separated, please submit certificate of separation 
  • Caste Certificate
  • Xerox copy of Aadhar Card 
  • Photocopy of bank passbook (Having a bank account is mandatory)
  • Candidates applying for renewal of scholarship for upcoming semesters are also required to submit the marks sheets of all previous semesters. If marks sheets are unavailable, please submit result sheets.
