POCSO Act 2012, POSH & Gender Equality Workshop

On March 7th, 2024 Faculty of Pharmacy, Rotaract Club of RUAS and Women Cell RUAS, in collaboration with Sakshi Foundation, organized a special event aimed at raising awareness about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act — POCSO Act 2012, POSH & Gender Equality. The event was held to educate the community about the legal provisions for safeguarding children against sexual abuse and to empower individuals with knowledge and resources to prevent such incidents or crimes. Dr. Ramya Nisal, Renowned consultant, General surgeon graced the occasion as resource person with her insightful perspectives and expertise on the subject.

She elucidated the key provisions of the act, the legal procedures involved in handling cases of child sexual abuse, and the importance of creating a supportive environment for survivors to come forward and seek justice. Following the guest speaker session, interactive sessions were conducted to facilitate dialogue and engagement among the attendees. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and learn from each other’s perspectives.

The event provided valuable insights, resources, and networking opportunities for all stakeholders involved in the protection of children’s rights. Through collective efforts and continued advocacy, the community can work towards creating a safer and more supportive environment for children to thrive free from the threat of sexual exploitation.

Rotaract RUAS extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bharath, Dean, FPH and Literary and Celebration Committee, FPH for the support provided towards successful completion of the event
