Facilities
Classroom
We have created a safe learning environment with state of art facilities to ensure holistic development of our students. We have a separate building for all the nursing courses which creates a conducive environment for learning.
The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated with adequate seating arrangements. ICT enabled classroom help us to provide a perfect blend of classroom and online classes.
Lab Facilities
Our high-tech nursing laboratories allow linking of theories of classroom with the practice of caring for patients in a hospital environment. The labs are well equipped with models and simulators to provide students with hands-on experience in the performance of various nursing procedures.
Library
A large collection of books, journals gathered over a period of 32 years provide rich study and reference material. The library is equipped with a collection of 6069 BookS.
We also subscribe to a number of National and International print journals. The library also has a vast collection of dissertations and project reports. The library comprises of a state of art computer lab.
Hospital
MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research is attached to Ramaiah Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and Ramaiah Memorial Hospital (RMH), both of which are NABH accredited with cumulative bed strength of 1784. The hospitals represent the Ramaiah Group’s commitment towards the two pillars of society, Health and Education. The broad general specialties include Medical, Surgical and OBG.
The Super Specialties include Urology, Nephrology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, orthopedics, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, Vascular Surgery, Gastroenterology and Cardiology. Students are posted in various clinical areas from the first year of nursing course based on the subject requirement of each academic year.
Community
The Community Health Nursing department of MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research conducts outreach activities in Bettahalsur, Bangalore.
We are a part of the Interdisciplinary Community Orientation Programme (IDCBT) which is conducted at Kaiwara, Kolar district every year.
Students conduct outreach activities like General health screening camps, school health screening for dental carries and refractory errors, in urban and rural areas. Students also participate in national health programmes like pulse polio immunization programme and MCH programmes.
Interdisciplinary Community Based Training Programme is an innovative programme, wherein the students of various Ramaiah institutions viz Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Dental and Medical participate together. IDCBT gives immense opportunities to our students to work together in group with team spirit.
We train the Junior level students with basic knowledge and skills that are necessary to initiate, monitor, develop and strengthen their abilities and to get sensitized to the realities of urban and rural health issues at earliest stage through interdisciplinary learning. IDCBT is a three weeks programme that commences every year from third week of November to first week of December.
The key activities of the programme are:
- To conduct community health survey
- To perform social mapping involving the community members
- To participate in health camps to screen for common health problems in the community
- To conduct Family assessment and family case study
- To learn complex decision making process in real life situations through Simulation games
- To organize and conduct Health education programme for the community
- To perform School health examination and conduct health awareness sessions
- To learn about administrative setup and functions of primary heath care centre, Taluk hospital and Anganwadi centre
- To teach students regarding voluntary service to the community (e.g. painting of anganwadi centre, planting saplings, clean up the school )
- To maintain an individual record of the activities carried out in IDCOP
Hostel
There is separate hostel facility for girls and boys. Shared rooms are available inside the campus to accommodate diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The hostel is Wi-Fi enabled and is safe and well-supervised by wardens. To ensure safety, 24 hours security is provided.
Transportation
Students visit various speciality hospitals and community areas across Bangalore for clinical and community health nursing postings. Transportation to these areas is facilitated by 3 buses which are managed by the college to ensure safety and comfort.
