Mobile Dental Clinic
The Faculty of Dental Sciences has always operated as a socially responsive institution since its establishment. Satisfying the realm of services is accomplished through Mobile Dental Van Services. The ultimate aim of this MDV program is to reach out to the population with low awareness, accessibility, and affordability.
The oral health services offered under this program include screening for risk factors and oral diseases, preventive services (application of Topical Fluorides and Pit and Fissures Sealants, providing oral prophylaxis), educational services on oral health, restorative care, and limited surgical care.
The mobile dental van is fully equipped with two dental chairs, a portable dental unit and X-ray unit, a sterilization unit, a compressor, and a generator. The other instruments and dental equipment required for oral health services are also part of the mobile dental van. The implementation of the MDV program is through good relationships and partnerships with the communities and NGOs.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry is the primary operator for implementing MDV programs but the service component is offered in collaboration with all clinical disciplines.
The MDV programs have reached up to 200 km covering more than a lakh population since their inception. On an average four to five programs are offered in a month.
The significant beneficiaries of the MDV programs so far are the inmates of Central Jail, Bangalore, Government schools, Government aided schools, private schools, and communities in partnership with Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, Sri Ramana Free Clinic Trust, Sri Jana Seva Samruddhi Trust, Belaku Academy, Geriatric homes etc.
