RCPT – A pioneer in the field of Physiotherapy Education.
Ramaiah College of Physiotherapy spearheads education and patient care around the restorative science of physiotherapy. The Department of Physiotherapy was established in 1983 and it started offering academic programs under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, starting with Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program in 1996, Master of Physiotherapy Program in 2002 and PhD from 2011. It is now an affiliate College under Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences that offers undergraduate (BPT), postgraduate (MPT) and Ph.D programmes which are recognised globally.
The College attracts the best talent from within the physiotherapy community and this has resulted in a competent faculty team with strong leadership attributes. At a National level, the department has led the way within the physiotherapy community and has several accomplishments to its credit.
Some of the notable pioneering activities of the department and its faculty include designing and implementing a unique international collaborative postgraduate program in physiotherapy education; its faculty playing the role of ‘thought leaders’ who set the agenda for the profession within the Asia-Pacific Regional chapter of the World Physiotherapy; conceptualizing and setting up one of the largest Center for Rehabilitation Facility (with an area over 17,000 Sq Ft) with state-of-the-art infrastructure; 60% of the faculty members with a track record of receiving research grants either individually or as a team; ability of the team to diversify based on the emerging need and with expertise in interdisciplinary collaboration in innovation that has resulted in successful patents.

The College of Physiotherapy collaborates with the students of medicine and other allied sciences. This fosters an academic environment where they learn and grow together. Through an integrated committee of cultural, literary and sports teams, and collaborative community programmes, the students learn to respect and work with other streams of health sciences.
