The curriculum is developed and periodically updated in collaboration with industry and domain experts.
A strong emphasis on practical application ensures students get hands-on experience with laboratories, simulations, and modelling packages to consolidate learning. The supportive environment and faculty members, facilities, innovative teaching methods, numerous projects and competitions, transform students to become independent thinkers and lifelong learners.
Students undergo value added courses in progressive areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Composite Technologies, GD&T, Design Thinking, Manufacturing process flow, Additive Manufacturing, Soft skill enhancement that make them industry ready. Students are mentored and encouraged to participate in national and international competitions, projects and presentations. Our students have made a mark in national level competitions and won best project awards by KSCST.
They pursue internship and projects in companies such as TS Motor Company, Larsen and Turbo Ltd, 515 Army Base, UCAM, Kennametal, Valdel that often convert to job opportunities. Additionally students are placed in Core and IT sectors, such as TVS Motor Company, Dynapac, Atkins, Cactus Globas Wipro, Amazon and in international companies namely, Nissan Kiko Co.Ltd, Fuji Kikai Kogya Co.Ltd.
Few students are pursuing higher studies in Universities abroad - KTH and Linkoping in Sweden, Illinois Institute of Technology and California State University, USA and in Indian Institutions such as NID, TAPME, NITs and Universities. Over the years, the Department's focus on research has sharpened to the thrust areas of composite and nano materials, computational mechanics, fatigue life extension, farm machinery design, thermal management, waste handling and recycling systems, operations and supply chain management, and circular economy.
Endowed with research funding from the Government and Research Organisations, three R&D centres in advanced manufacturing, composite materials and technology, and farm machinery are established. The state-of-the-art facilities including dynamic balancing machine, wire EDM, additive manufacturing, composite manufacturing facilities, optical measuring, and scanning tunnelling microscope, enable pursuit of ground breaking research. Students are an integral part of these research activities.
MoUs with national and international universities, including Kazan National Research Technological University; St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University; University of Illinois, Chicago; University of Texas, Arlington; Texas A&M University; as well as with organisations such as UCAM, CMTI, Borne Technologies and Peenya Industrial Association lead to numerous education, research, and consultancy opportunities.
