About
Department of Community Health Nursing is the synthesis of nursing and public health practice applied to promote and protect the health of the population.
It combines all the basic elements of professional, clinical nursing with public health and community practice. The department prepares students to undertake the socially conscious task of providing health care to both rural and urban communities. Students are taught to recognize the importance of health, prevention of disease and promotion of positive health.



Highlights
The Department aims to focus on attitude building and personality development of nursing students to enable them to provide quality community health nursing in following aspects:

- The well-equipped Laboratory with family folders, Community Health Nursing bags, health education materials, models and puppets required for providing for comprehensive services to the community folks.
- Provide need-based care to the individual, family and community at their door step.
- MCH services in Urban and Rural health centres.
- Participates and observes in National Health Programme.
- Organises and participate various health camps based on the need of community at kaiwara, Muddenahalli and outskirts of Bangalore.
- On regular basis in collaboration with other departments and NGO conducts free medical camps in the schools and community for screening of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
- The outreach programmes are well appreciated and acknowledged in the community by various stakeholders.
- The college buses are available for students to provide practical exposure of community urban / rural and certain field visits.
