The Department of Nursing Foundation is considered as one of the basic and integral part of every college and school of Nursing.
The concept and scope of nursing is sown in the young hearts by the Nursing Foundation department. The department was established in 1987, when the Ramaiah institute of nursing education and research was established.

The department helps the novice nursing students to develop understanding about the concept of health and illness. The department helps students to develop knowledge and competencies required to provide evidence-based, comprehensive basic nursing care for adult patients. The department trains the students demonstrate fundamental skills of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care using nursing process approach in supervised clinical settings.
The department promotes the application of values, code of ethics and professional conduct in professional life. Department enhances the students’ communication skills which will help them interact effectively with patients, families and colleagues fostering mutual respect and shared decision making to enhance patient satisfaction and health outcomes. Department encourages students to inculcate the habits of continued learning that will help them in personal and professional development.
