Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore, Department of Food Technology started offering the first B.Sc., (Hons) degree course with Major in Food Processing and Technology as early as 2018.
Master degree in Food Science and Technology from 2019 and M.Sc., Food Nutrition and Dietetics from 2022. The Department of Food Technology Programmes (Food Processing and Technology, Food Science and Technology and Food Nutrition and Dietetics) aimed to serve the superior need of providing high-quality manpower for the developing modern food industry of 21st century in India and abroad.
India is the country where more of the youths, and magnificent growth in the food sector. In particular, after COVID-19, even though the various sectors suffered a lot, but food sector made a significant growth. Department of Food Technology has received strong support from RUAS, government organizations and the industry. Over the years, our graduates have proven to be popular, in terms of higher education within the country as well as foreign Universities, placement and entrepreneurship. Faculty members in the Food Technology Department are excellent in strive to excel in teaching and research to make the Department as a centre of excellence in food science and technology by providing well trained graduates and conducting high-quality research of international impact.
The degree courses currently offered include 4-year B.Sc., (Hons) Food Processing and Technology, M.Sc., Food Science and Technology and M.Sc., Food Nutrition and Dietetics. Our department mainly focusing on Food processing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutracuetical and functional food development, fermented food products and food quality analysis. We are giving equal importance to curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and encourage all our students to participate in various seminar/conferences/workshop/training program and industrial visits and FDP for our faculty members. We frequently organize guest lecture program for our UG and PG students.
