The Secret of great fashion is to choose and feel good”. Fashion Design is one of the most attractive and lucrative courses in India and the world over.
Trend, fame, glamour and passion drive the young minds to propel their career in the field of fashion design. The world of internet has brought the whole world closer and together. The propensity of online marketing has increased the pace and space, at which the fashion business is ubiquitous in both domestic and international markets. Although a few institutes in India provide quality education in Fashion, only a few among them offer Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral studies in Fashion Design.
Realizing the potential of Fashion industry and associated requirement of trained human resource, the Faculty of Art and Design of RUAS has started the programs Bachelor of Fashion Design, Masters in Fashion Design and Ph. D to meet the career objectives, professional and societal needs. “B. Des and M. Des Programme in Fashion Design” offered by Dept. of Fashion Design, FAD, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Peenya Campus is unique having a vision to provide basic and advanced skill based professional education as per the need of textile, apparel and fashion industries. The program provides exposure for students to update themselves on new technologies, materials, the latest product launches, new innovation, the latest machines and processes. Students will be learning practical demonstrations on the new innovations, product launches, product upgrades and new materials.
Transfer of knowledge to the society is done by application of design fundamentals in developing the various products, fashion clothing etc.in a sustainable way by keeping in view the public health, safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations. Research and innovations in fashion sector helps students to update their knowledge, innovative and practical way to meet the demand of forth coming. The outdoor visits provides a solid foundation for under- standing the state of the art for the industries, Since the programme covers aesthetic, intellectual and technological abilities by integrating theory and practical application skills to meet the needs of related industry and society in larger perceptive.
Department has support from experienced teaching staff with excellent laboratory facilities such as Pattern Making and Garment Construction Lab, Computer Aided Design Textile Fibres, Dyeing and Quality Lab. The industry requires more designers to boost the development of fashion industry in India. This education helps to overcome many challenges of society. After this education students will be able to innovative need base apparels, accessories, textile products in digital way full fill the customer needs and to pursue a career as free-lance designer and entrepreneur, the education builds a strong foundation in terms of design sense, creative application and individual artistic expression, to design & develop products to the needs of the customers. This type of event will help in sharing network building, sharing of ideas, and development of products as per the customer demand in the fashion design world. Department also conducts value added programs of 60 hrs by inviting academic experts from Industries and reputed organisations. Hands on practical skill development workshop related to accessory making, fashion choreography, fashion shows were also conducted during the semester.
The Department of Fashion Design regularly organises visits to textile and apparel industries, craft centres, chitrakala parishat, khadi exhibitions, Garment expo etc. Department also conducts prestigious guest lectures, seminars and webinars as per academic requirements. The outdoor visits provides a solid foundation for understanding the state of the art for the industries. Department also Conducts National and International level symposium, hackathon, conferences, seminars to bring all the all the academicians, Industrialists, research scholars, students and entrepreneurs in common forum. Department received - Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Student Outreach, Engagement and Digital Innovation 2022 and Certificate of Appreciation for valuable and Exemplary Contribution to the Education Community under India's first symposium on 'NEW NORMAL- EDUCATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT & AWARDS 2022- ELSA2022. Award ceremony held on 7 and 8 January 2022 by Ardor Comm Media Group, Pune.
Department has having MoU with Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg, Russia and BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh to conduct various academic activities and to have student exchange programs. Industry MOUs like Leisure Loom Inc Bangalore, Huemn Interactive Private Limited helps for student placement and internship activities. Students also do Industry Internship with Intertek India Pvt Ltd, Trudel Fashion Pvt Ltd, Ranger Apparels and Texport apparels LLP, Designer Internship with Shubanagi Unique Boutique, Palakad, Kerala, Aarthrva Fashion Needs, SQUIDS Design Bangalore.
