The Indian Facility Management (FM) industry is in the midst of rapid developments in end-user industries, which has led to considerable growth of commercial activities. In the present scenario of global outlook, the focus has been on cleanliness & hygiene that indirectly signifies a healthy human society. In this direction, it is very much necessary to empower the cleaning & hygiene sector with engineering services, security services & automation for a successful and sustainable facility management. Developing human capital enriched with appropriate scientific & technical knowledge base and skill development is essential for taking forward this competitive and flourishing sector to higher pedestal of performance.
In realizing this objective, Schevaran Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Mysuru, one of India’s leading manufacturers of quality cleaning & hygiene products collaborated with M/s Cleanfix AG, Switzerland to establish “Schevaran-Cleanfix Academy of Cleaning Sciences Pvt. Ltd. (SCA)”. Further, this collaboration was also supported by M/s FilMop, Italy. The academic program, “Post Graduate Diploma in Facility Management (PGDFM)” was developed by “Academy for Workplace Excellence”, the training division of SCA, in association with Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences.
Post Graduate Diploma in Facility Management
Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore in association with its Industry partner, Schevaran Cleanfix Academy (P) LTD, is offering first of its kind program “Post Graduate Diploma in Facility Management”(PGDFM).
Facility Management is an organizational function which integrates people, place and process within the built environment with the purpose of improving the quality of life of people and the productivity of the core business.
Currently, Facility Management Industry is contributing 3.2 % of GDP. As per market research group, the India facility management market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 14.84% in the forecast period, 2023-2028, to reach USD97.29 billion by 2028
The sectors includes, Airports, Healthcare, Hospitality, Shopping malls, Large & Medium scale Industries, Multinational business houses and Real estate projects. Partial list of Facility Management companies offering service in India, include JLL Property consultants India, CBRE India, Quess Corp, Sodexo India, ISS facility services, Knight Frank India, Cushman & Wakefield India.
Average salary for entry level Facility manager in India is Rs 6.5 Lakhs per year. Need for skilled manpower, Technology Integration in FM services and Sustainable practices and Wellness of people are challenges for FM companies.
PGDFM is a 11 month program offered in trimester scheme. Students will acquire essential skills required in Facility Management, including Engineering, Science and Business Management through hands on, case studies by experts from FM Industry and a project in Final trimester. Graduates from Hotel Management, Business Management, Engineering and Science streams are eligible to apply for this post graduate program.
The program is offered in association with industry partners Schevaran Labs Mysore, Cleanfix Switzerland and Filmop Italy. Faculty are drawn from FM industries and senior Professors from RUAS.
In order to equip students and scholars to meet the needs of industries, business and society, knowledge and skills will be disseminated through instruction, teaching, training, seminars, workshops and symposia.
This program aims to empower students to acquire an ability to manage facilities in different domains in an intelligent and effective manner to ensure smooth and continuous functioning in the respective domains.
Candidates exhibiting an outstanding academic record with leadership potential will be selected for the scholarship by Schevaran Cleanfix Foundation. Schweizerischer Fachverband Betriebsunterhalt (SFB) is the Swiss professional association located in Zurich, Switzerland and will have a specially designed 3 week course for selected students in facility management and a certificate from Swiss Government.
