The Faculty of Art and Design (FAD) offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and doctoral programmes in Art and Design. The courses in Art and Design will challenge the creative capabilities of students. These courses are highly popular in the West and becoming increasingly popular in India.

Faculty Mission

The Faculty of Art and Design at MSRUAS aims to deliver creative and innovative art and design education with inter & multidisciplinary approach adopting global educational practices with emphasis on development of critical, analytical and problem solving abilities in its graduates and associates with a passion for lifelong learning and independent thinking. The Faculty would equally emphasize on creation of new ideas in art and design areas through research and also provide product design services to cater to the needs of the society.

Dean's Message

FAD

The Faculty of Art and Design presently offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Design. The four year Undergraduate courses offered leading to the B. Des., Degree are Product Design and Visual Communication. The two year Postgraduate courses offered leading to the M. Des., Degree are Product Design, Commercial and Retail Design, Rural Product Design, Computer Animation and Game Design and Fashion Design. The design courses and the curriculum at MSRUAS have been evolved, over the years, by the members of faculty based on their teaching experience and long standing interaction with various foreign universities particularly Coventry University of UK and Industry and will nurture the creative capabilities of students. The curriculum offered is outcome based and helps students to develop critical thinking, creative and innovative abilities and imbibe relevant practical skills for a smooth transition from academics to the actual work environment. Internship opportunities are provided for students to do their project in India or abroad depending on their preference.

Along with the academic activities, the Faculty of Art and Design also conducts research and undertakes sponsored research for companies and organisations involved in developing products for healthcare, hospitality, lifestyle, automotive and agricultural sectors. The Faculty is recognized as a PACE Institute (Partner for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education) and under this partnership programme the faculty and students interact with designers from General Motors and design students from other PACE institutes across the world. Students have opportunities to take part in international student competitions conducted among more than 70 PACE institutes world over. Over the years our students have won many design competitions held at national and international levels. The Faculty works closely with Governmental agencies, Agriculture Universities and NGOs to conduct research and develop need-based product solutions and systems to meet user and community needs. The students are encouraged to participate in design competitions at national and global levels The Faculty publishes a host of papers annually and contributes to the University publications, a magazines and technical journals
